Playwriting

Lauren’s first play, “Exchange”, follows the fortunes of five Kiwi exchange students in 1994 Germany. Lauren was awarded the Chapman Tripp Most Outstanding New Playwright of the Year Award (2005) for “Exchange” which has had two professional productions and is still regularly performed in high schools. Lauren has gone on to have 13 plays professionally produced by the Young and Hungry Arts Trust, Auckland Theatre Company, Duffy Theatre, and Life Education. She is regularly commissioned to write funny, educational shows that tour 500 New Zealand schools annually for Duffy Books in Homes and Life Education Trust. Lauren has written and directed five plays (and counting) for Brickworks Drama School with co-founder Natascha Diaz. Their first “grown up” play, “Lamingtons with Lysistrata”, is currently in development.​
